BEATCITY JAPAN 2025 WILDCARD
What is a Wildcard?
A Wildcard is an online video audition, where participants submit their performances to be judged by a panel of experts. This year, entries are open not only to Japan, but to the entire world!
Anyone, from anywhere, can take on the Wildcard challenge!
For 2025, the Wildcard slots are as follows:
– SOLO Category: 4 spots
– TAG-TEAM Category: 4 spots
– LOOPSTATION Category (Supported by BOSS): 3 spots

Open for entries from both domestic and international participants.

Important: Only one video submission is allowed.
Wildcards can only be registered ONCE – if you have uploaded a wildcard earlier in the registration window and then decide later to upload a new one, this new wildcard will not be accepted.

Important Notes
The copyright of the submitted video belongs to the creator. However, by entering the WILDCARD contest, you are deemed to have agreed that BEATCITY JAPAN may use the submitted video permanently (without the creator’s permission) for purposes including but not limited to editing, reproduction, public release, and distribution. Please submit your entry only after agreeing to these terms.
Submitted videos will be published on BEATCITY JAPAN’s official YouTube channel. (Wildcard videos will not be monetized.)
If you wish to publish the video on your personal channel, please follow the rules below:Release date: From 0:00 AM on Monday, August 11, 2025 (the day after the BEATCITY JAPAN 2025 Finals)
Content ID registration: Not allowed in principle. However, if you must register it for unavoidable reasons, please whitelist BEATCITY JAPAN’s channel.
You may post videos under 30 seconds on your personal social media accounts for promotional purposes.
Submitted videos may also be used on the official YouTube channels of BEATCITY JAPAN / SwissBeatbox or other media platforms. Please submit your video only if you agree to this in advance.
If you are a minor (under 18), you must obtain consent from a parent or guardian before applying. Also, You must also be at least 16 years old to be eligible to compete in GBB25.
If you advance through the Wildcard stage, you must participate in the “BEATCITY JAPAN 2025 Finals” scheduled for Sunday, August 10, 2025. (This includes appearing in the AbemaTV broadcast/stream and other related programs.)
The organizers will NOT provide any financial support for flights, hotel accommodations, meals, or guardian participation related to the BEATCITY JAPAN 2025 Finals.
※ Failure to comply with the above rules will result in disqualification.

Video Submission Rules
Duration: 120 seconds (±10 seconds)
Allowed range: 1 minute 50 seconds to 2 minutes 10 seconds
Upload destination: Wildcard entry form(The entry videos will be posted on BCJ's official YouTube channel at a later date, so please refrain from uploading them to your personal YouTube channel. Thank you for your cooperation.)
Allowed audio processing: Only reverb, compressor, and EQ are allowed. (Please apply the same processing consistently throughout the entire video.)
Editing rules:
No cuts allowed during the 120-second performance.
The video must start with an introduction mentioning the event.
Example: "Hello, my name is ____ and this is the wildcard for BEATCITY JAPAN 2025 SOLO Category."
Video file name/title format:
[Beatboxer Name] | BEATCITY JAPAN 2025 WildCard SOLO Category_Track Title
Performance duration must be 120 seconds (excluding the introduction).
If the duration exceeds the allowed range, points will be deducted per second.
Microphones are allowed (excessive sound editing will lead to disqualification).
If any cuts are detected, the participant will be disqualified.
If the performance is found to be inauthentic, the participant will be disqualified.
Video Submission Process
Submit both processed and unprocessed video files.
Upload your Wildcard video to Gigafile and include the shared URL in the message section.
Set the file retention period to at least 60 days.
Google Drive links are also acceptable. (Please make sure it is set to be viewable.)
The application is only considered complete once all conditions above are met.

Duration: 3 minutes to 3 minutes 30 seconds (No exceptions allowed).
Upload destination: Wildcard entry form(The entry videos will be posted on BCJ's official YouTube channel at a later date, so please refrain from uploading them to your personal YouTube channel. Thank you for your cooperation.)
Allowed audio processing: Only reverb, compressor, and EQ are allowed. (Please apply the same processing consistently throughout the entire video.)

Performance duration must be strictly between 3:00 - 3:30 minutes (excluding the introduction).
Allowed devices (Only one device permitted):
BOSS RC-505 mkI or BOSS RC-505 mkII
No other devices(MIDI devices neither) can be used.
Additional wiring within the loop station is allowed (e.g., routing output back to input).
All sounds must be created using voice and body sounds through a microphone.
Pre-recorded samples are strictly prohibited.
Metronome sounds must not be audible to the audience.
Only one microphone is allowed.
Only one stereo output is allowed (multiple outputs are prohibited).
If any cuts are detected, the participant will be disqualified.
The full setup must be visible in the video, including the back of the loop station.
